day 273
I couldn't pass up the chance to visit Churchill Downs... took a tour of the backside and barns and watched the racehorses get exercised. It was fantastic.

day 270
I had to stop once at Kentucky Fried Chicken while I was in Kentucky... They had some menu items that we don't have here at our local KFC. Can't say that I'm much interested.

day 269
When looking for a Safe Place for kids, one perhaps thinks of schools, community centers, fire stations, etc.... Well, add Wendy's to that list! (La Grange, Kentucky)

day 267
Made a brief stop at Ft. Knox, hoping to see the gold. No such luck. The fine fellows at the gate directed us to the Patton Museum instead.

day 266
Got dinner at Panera... Since everything closes early in Kentucky, we were there at closing time (7:30 p.m.) when they started passing out free loaves of bread. You won't see me saying no to bread!

day 264
Not quite sure where this is... somewhere in the Midwest. I flew over this landscape on my way to Indianapolis. It looked to me like a patchwork quilt or a piece of scrapbook paper. I can't imagine how they got the circles just right.

day 263
This e-mail I received this morning has REALLY messed up my next two weeks. I leave for hurricane CAT duty tomorrow morning (plane leaves at 6:30). Don't expect any postings for the next few weeks... I'll be taking pictures, but I don't know if I'll be able to post. UGH!!!

day 262
I went scan-crazy today. I've reconnected with a lot of H.S. friends on Facebook, and now we're swapping old photos. So, out came my bin of oldies but goodies.

day 261
Ok.... I have had MORE than my fair share of computer problems! A few months ago it was a modem issue. After spending hours on that, I got it straightened out. Then, I ran out of disk space and had to move things around. A week or so ago I got some annoying Windows Installer pop-up that would not go away. NOW, it's some sort of malware trojan virus. But, I figured it out and all is well. With a little help from my bro-in-law Greg, I've become my own Geek Squad.

day 260
Young Womens' basketball has started. Tonight we had a practice before Mutual. I played a little with the girls and discovered (1) I am totally out of shape, and (2) I can't make a basket anymore! It was quite a humiliating experience. I need to practice!

While putting groceries away tonight I noticed three open, half-eaten jars of dill pickle spears. THREE. Why?

day 257
This here is not a happy man. The legal department at work (of which KT is a part) had their annual picnic. Due to KT's sense of obligation and wanting to support his boss/friend, we went. We did not, however, stay for the games. Luckily we were able to slip away without much notice. That's how we roll.

I don't get it... where do all the socks go? We only have the kids every other weekend (with a weekday here and there...) yet there's this huge pile of pairless socks!

day 253
Had to go to Walnut Creek for work this week. This was inside the stall in the women's restroom. Actually, the stall was graced with not one, but TWO of these nicely laminated reminders. Mind you, this is in an office that employs adults. One would think a reminder wouldn't be necessary... perhaps not?

day 252
In an effort to relieve the boredom of riding the Lifecycle in the garage, I fashioned a stand for the portable DVD player out of an upside-down hamper and wooden plant stand. It was the PERFECT height! I pedaled while watching Kevin Bacon cut footloose. What a classic!

Ahhhh... they're reading! I don't know that Kate's choice of seating is conducive to great reading comprehension, but at least the book's open, right?
